March madness!

Has it been a month already, and here I was thinking how on top of it I was to get a blog in before spring break even starts.  I guess that means we are having good times around here!
Dave and I celebrated our 14th anniversary in March with a mountain bike ride on one of our favorite trails, horse thief bench.  And it is a good thing we planned that because I totally forgot that it was our anniversary the day of, and felt really lame admitting that!  But hey now we are one for one, only the year he forgot was when he was a totally sleep deprived resident, and I really don't have that kind of excuse...maybe a sanity deprived mom???

I have been participating in bountiful baskets now for about a year and we have loved it.  Mostly because it gets us trying different fruits and veggies every week.  Check out the size of these carrots that showed up a few weeks ago!

We took a quick weekend trip to Utah to see my niece Heather before she left for her mission to Nicaragua.  She is going to be a fabulous missionary, and I can't wait to hear about all her adventures!  We stayed with Doug and Heather (not to confuse with the other Heather) and had a blast.  We bought a pass of all passes so we can play with cousins when we come into town this next year and I think we got our moneys worth with this one trip...seriously.  We went to a U of U basketball game.  The kids liked it (after they got used to the noise level) and I loved watching the Utes again, it has been a long time!  I also loved watching my niece and nephew dance at half time with Maren on the stair platform.  They know how to play!

We also went to Trafalga  and played out hearts out.  Glow in the dark mini golf, laser tag, rock climbing, this crazy ride that you can see behind Spencer in the background.  It was all good fun with cousins and nice to have a few bigger city options than we have here.
We also played a ton at Doug and Heathers house.  It was fun to see their twins interact with with our kids.  They really played well together, Maren was favorite this time for sure.  And I think we adults all enjoyed the time that left us to chat and catch up. And a huge thanks to Doug and Heather for their hospitality and time.  It is not easy to put up a family of six and host the rest of the Marchant clan for a movie and game night as well.  Plus we got to have a hotdog roast in their very cool backyard, despite the rain forecast-ed, Doug you are very cool in my book!

In anticipation of a leprechaun or two sneaking into our house, the kids made traps.  A few penny's for bait and voila it is finished.  And they were SO close to catching one this year..but those leprechaun's are extra sneaky.  It's a good thing they left them a snack.

Jacob made this cute hat at preschool, but he was not too fond of wearing it!  And Spencer made this cute, Cat in the Hat, hat for Dr Seuss day.  He wore it for the picture but not much longer.

Maren has been working very hard this month on putting together a power point presentation at school with her partner Mia.  They learned about the life cycle of an endangered cheetah.  It was very cool to see her present this.  But my favorite part was listening to her talk about the cheetah every day when she came home from school.  She loved this project!

And obviously she is not my only science lover.  I had to snap a picture of Amanda reading one of her favorite magazines, it is right up there with National Geographic and her Grandma's Smithsonian.  Last night she was asking both Dave and I our opinion ethically about bringing back species that have gone extinct, since the technology is now there to do that.
And I have to say it is so good she loves reading this stuff so much as that darn foot of hers relapsed again, when we tried to move from the boot to a shoe...so frustrating!

And here's proof that spring has finally begun to appear here on the western slope of Colorado.  Tree climbing in in full force!  And I have spent the last week getting the garden and yard ready for spring planting!

I miss watching the Utes play too!! That Pass of all Passes sounds amazing.

I love that you take pictures of so many of the kids school projects - that is a great idea I need to recommit to.

So sorry to hear about Amanda's foot!!! She is such a trooper.
