The weeks before Christmas is always a busy crazy madhouse time. Full of parties, school celebrations, and fun traditions. This year we also got lots of snow!
We got dumped on in the early weeks of December and the kids loved it. They played so hard and even got snow day out of it. I loved watching the fun they had, and the fun Skai had playing in the snow for the first time. He wore himself out, and loved every minute of it. We had to set up a thawing out station in the garage for him, as he would wander in and out of the house all day tracking in ice and snow. Love the doggie doors we got, but not when he has free reign in that kind of weather!
The sledding hill off the trampoline was a hit. We also tried out a cross country ski camp one day for the kids on the Mesa. They loved it, especially Jacob. Dave and I took a private lesson to learn how to skate ski as well. We are all looking forward to more classes come January.

We also took our annual trip up to the Mesa to cut down our Christmas tree, this year there was a full on blizzard, wind, cold, snow. We were expecting snow but this was crazy. We ventured about a 1/4 mile from the parking lot, found a tree and cute it down and hurried back to the car to get warm. It was a beautiful tree, the perfect size and really full, unfortunately the mixture of tree food we followed this year was too heavy on bleach, and it didn't last long before we had a needles everywhere. At least it smelled good!
The kids had fun taking random pictures in front of the tree one night.
The Christmas party at church is one of the fun highlights we look forward too every year. We had a wonderful meal and program, and the kids got to visit with Santa. Amanda decided she was too big to visit man in red...but if she had she would have asked for a pogo stick????? Maren asked for an art kit, and Spencer for ninjago legos.
Jacob was little more timid and it took seeing the the other kids eating their sucker from Santa to get him to sit on his lap. He asked for a Planes Wii game.
We made snack mix and chocolate dipped pretzels to share with friends and teachers. The girls and I went to the nutcracker one night, it was amazing!
Another tradition is a Christmas party we have been invited to by some friends since we moved here. Along with food and fun for the kids we also go caroling. It is something I love.
One night we had nothing on the calender, and I was so happy. It was freezing and I didn't want to go out, so we had a create your own pizza night, and they loved it. I took this picture mostly to remember Maren's crazy headband, they always end up like this, and she doesn't even notice...love that girl. She had an eighties day at school in Dec as well, she was rockin it.
Her class did presentations for a research project they were working on for early Colorado history. She researched and presented on Rena Sabin, a female doctor that made history with her research and public health campaigns, including helping x-ray for tuberculosis. She presented in character for "a night at the museum" and did a great job.

Between November and December the kids all had concerts at school and a few poetry reading at Barnes and Noble. I never get great pictures so this year I just enjoyed them. Spencer did take a "selfie" at Maren's concert though. Jacob had his Christmas party at preschool, they sang a few songs, and had some snacks. This is his best friend Kyle that Jacob plays with a lot at school.
I think the picture above says it all...we were all a little warn out at times in Dec. No more than Miss Amanda though. She made the jump up to the gold group at swim and it was all she could do to keep her eyes open at night after practice. Sometimes even that failed. Glad she had a cute pouch to keep her company!
