Christmas 2019 Gimp style

Our tree looked a little different this year.  It was so weird to decorate a "full" tree, instead of the sparse ones we usually get from the Mesa, but that is what we got.  It was beautiful, and it was good to be able to pick it out with Dave involved.  Crutches and snow are not a good mix.

We attended the Christmas Lights parade for the first time in years, as we weren't super worn our from getting a tree, and it was fairly warm out this year.

This is Grand Junctions best parade of the year.  It is always a fun one to go to, as long as it's not freezing.

Jacob is serving on student council this year, and he was able to help with selling treats at the Holiday concert this year.  They posted this picture on the schools facebook page from that evening.

I have no idea why he dressed up for this one, but I love that he still will do this.  Here's the thing, Jacob is very well liked.  He has more friends, and wanna be friends than any of the other kids ever did.  And he still will be awesome and have fun, and not worry about what others think.  Actually, I think that is what draws others to him.  Well, that, and his kindness, he is a good kid, and we love him to pieces.

With Dave layed up, and not able to get out as much, we decided to make some of my dad's famous peanut brittle this year.  It was really fun to make, and it turned out amazing.  My dad would be proud.  Because our counter top is quartz, we tried using parchment paper to pour it out on.  This helped it to not cool down too fast, and we were able to stretch it out perfect.  Just like dad's.

Spencer in his choir attire, isn't he cute?  I love this kid, it's great that he will get decked out for a concert still, and he has a great voice too.

I took the kids up skiing a few days before Christmas. All the kids got season passes this year, and were excited to see some snow.  We had a great day.  I didn't manage to get any pictures of Spencer that day, as he found some friends from school and was up skiing with them all day. It was great to spend the day with the other two.  But it ended up being a little sad, because the next day, Spencer twisted his foot funny while running around the play room, and broke his foot!?!  It is so crazy that he did that.

So what that really meant was that Spencer and Dave were gimps all winter together.  With two sets of crutches around the house, I had to really step up the momma care.  Luckily Dave was pretty close to getting himself down to one crutch at this point, which was way better.

Sugar cookies and gingerbread houses kept even the gimps entertained.

And Amanda came home!  Yay, it was good to have her back for a short while again.

Christmas morning came and went with lots of toys...

and treats.

Jacob was pretty happy to get his hoverboard.

Amanda was happy to get a fancy oboe reed knife, and a few other surprises.

Spencer got some games, and a nintendo switch, something that was not planned, but given that we had to return his season pass, it was a good last minute save.

Maren was happy about her gifts, and mostly loved the time with Amanda again.

We played lots of games, including the national parks monopoly, and more dungeons and dragons.

And we all welcomed in 2020 with a fun party of games and yummy food.  Amanda and her friends took it to a whole new level after the other guests left.
