It's Great to be eight!

Maren turned eight this year. Eight is a big birthday in our church as it the age one can choose to be baptized, and become members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am so proud of Maren of her decision. She was baptized Sept 3rd, and confirmed Sept 4th during sacrament meeting.

Here are a few words from Maren about her baptism and birthday...
"When I was baptized I felt good inside. My dad baptized me and the next day I was confirmed. When I was confirmed I was extra happy to be getting the gift of the Holly Ghost. I liked that I had my cousins (Calvin and Lily) here. I liked that my other family was here too (Aunt Michelle, Grandma Patty, Madison, Megan, and Emily and Trevor). And my friend Calvin too. When I was playing at my birthday I liked when I got my Ripstik. "

After Maren was confirmed she sat next to me and with tears in her eyes, she said "Mom I am just so happy."

During the baptism they give a parent, of each child being baptized, a few minutes to share some special things about that child. As I shared a few things I was so overcome with love with this beautiful daughter of mine who teaches me so much everyday. We are so blessed to get to have such a beautiful spirit with us in our home. She works so hard at everything she does and has such a happy disposition.

She really wanted a pink Ripstik, but due to a shipping error on my part, we ended up with a silver one, and she handled it so well. A very proud mom moment. She has wanted one of these for several months, and I was sure she was going to change her mind after having tried to ride one and not succeeding at our family reunion this summer. But she kept to her guns and after a few weeks is now starting to really get it going.

Happy birthday Maren
