Teenage Road Trip

Amanda has some really great friends from school.  They have become very close over the last few years of middle school and have become like family.  A few months ago they asked if they could take a trip to Utah for a writing conference for teenagers.  It was a fun trip for them, one of them will be going to a different high school than the others, so this was a fun, last shin dig for them.  These are such good kids, and so much fun to spend the weekend with.  I will admit to being a bit frazzled after the 4 hour car ride listening to them all sing along to their favorite music and hold conversations on top of it.  But they were courteous and fun guests.  And they even slept at night!

They had a blast at the conference, and all came away having learned lots.  I love that they love to learn.  They talked for hours about what they got out of the conference on the way home. They all got to meet Brandon Sanderson and other authors they were excited about.

A huge thanks to Doug and Heather for letting us all take over their basement for a couple nights.

While the girls were in their conference, I got to mountain bike with my awesome family.  It was super fun.  I love the trails up above my sisters house in Alpine and was excited to ride them again.  And the company was super fun as well.

We hiked up to horsetail falls later that afternoon with Doug and Heather and their kids.  Always a beautiful spring hike.

My mom traveled back with us to spend  a week here in Junction.  We took each of the kids out for lunch on different days, checking them out from school.  And we celebrated what would have been my dad's 76th birthday by sending balloons with notes attached up.  Not sure how far they made it though....

Amanda and my mom found this bird at the dollar store.  It even sang.  They have such fun being goofy together=)  Amanda had her festival performances with band, that my mom was able to go to.  And she even helped me with art heritage, and of course helped me keep up with my kitchen, which is always the best!

Jacob and Grandma cooking pancakes for dinner.  Love his "safety goggles".
The only real bummer was the rain that came in just in time to have the kids soccer games cancelled. Bummer, maybe next time!
