Goblin Valley with friends

We planned a trip to Goblin Valley with some our friends, and we had so much fun.  Despite the crazy weather and not so warm temperatures.  In fact we almost pulled out of the trip because we were so  worried about the weather.  It was chilly and thunderstorms were forecast.   But in the end we ended up going for most of the time we had planned, and we were so glad that we did.  We stayed in the state park campground and this first picture is one of several drives we took to play in the goblins.  It was so much fun.

Forgive the many out of focus pictures in  the post.  Most were taken at dusk and the lighting was not great.  the kids loved climbing around in the goblins, and playing hide and seek, and just goofing off.  Best playground ever!

We took a hike to wild horse window.  It is a short hike, but pretty cool to get to this cave with a window and lots of hieroglyphs.
This time though, the hike was quite eventful.  A huge thunderstorm came over the horizon as we were about halfway up.  We kept going, as we figured we were going to get wet either way.  But we didn't plan on the hail we got pummeled with, and then it dumped...hard.  It was so crazy.  We were all soaked.  And the hardest part was all the water that built up in the canyon we were hiking up.  It was so wet, so fast.  It is not a slot canyon, but it is sandstone all around, so everywhere you would look you would see water falls coming off the rocks and the water getting deeper in the canyon.  The guys built some rope pulls to help us get around some of the bigger pools.  It was fun, but scary as there were a few little ones to keep safe.
This is the storm off in the horizon after it passed us. Kind of creepy looking!

Skai loved this trip.  (We always knew he was horse in disguise.)

I love this place, and never get tired of visiting.
