We had another great summer! Spencer turned 9 a few days after school got out and we celebrated with a family party and a play date with his best friend Miles. They had a fun day playing lego's pretty much, ALL DAY. They love this and who was I to complain?
We had a stake temple day, which was awesome, as we were able to take the kids with us to do activities in the stake center next door. Maren's friend was able to go with us, and afterwards we took the kids on a fun hike in the needles section of Canyon lands NP. It was some of the coolest scenery!
Emily and their crew joined us for a long weekend, and we had a lot of fun just playing around here. We swam, played, hiked, biked and generally enjoyed lots of fun cousin time. Emily and I got out on a fun mountain bike ride, and we were all sad when they had to pack up and head home.
While the girls (and Dad) went to girls camp, the boys both did a session of swim lessons, in which they both became very confident in the water. It was awesome to have all four kids swimming!
Spencer and I got out for a mountain bike one evening. This kid rocks it on the trails. I love biking with him.
Dave was able to join join the 4th year hikers on their backpacking trip this year. This called ragged mountain. The girls backpack in about 4 miles to a water fall from their base camp. It is such beautiful country up there.
Amanda was supposed to go this year, but ended up hurting her ankle again just before. She was bummed, but used her time keeping her foot elevated and rested to finish up her drivers training online, and was able to get her driving permit. she is hoping for better luck next year.
Also, while Dave was gone, we got the tile back splash installed, so the kitchen is officially finished! It took us forever to decide on tile, then a lengthy wait to have it installed. But I really like how it ended up, it was well worth the wait!
