Telluride for the win

We can never quite get enough of Telluride's charm.  It is the most beautiful place, and we have wanted to share a little bit of that with Emily and her family for quite some time now.  I think they loved and will definitely come back for more.

The hike up to Bear Creek Falls is always a favorite.  Everett was not digging all the hiking, but he did let Dave carry him on his shoulders for most of this hike

The "cairn garden" is the kids favorite part.  There is this field full of small rocks along the way, that over the years has become full of trail cairns.  They could play there for hours.

The falls at the end of the hike are amazing, but equally amazing are all the waterfalls you can see along the way.

Lily and Maren figured out how to do a selfie with the waterfall.  Nice job ladies!

We ventured on a 4 wheeler adventure up to bridal veil falls one evening, because Dave has been dying to take his truck up that road.  It was an adventure for sure. It was really fun to see the falls that close up.

This is what they look like from a distance.  This valley is incredible!

We attempted to float down the river that goes through the campground and town.  But it was freezing, and had a really really fast current.  After one attempt with the older girls, we gave up and visited the town park pool instead.  That was a hit with everyone, and much warmer as well.

We spent a fair amount of time just letting the kids play at the campground.  It really is the best to be so close to everything, yet feel like you are not.

Of course a trip to Telluride would not be complete without a venture or two up the gondola, and this we especially loved sharing with cousins. It is such a fun ride, with beautiful views.  Everett was not sure he loved it at first, but eventually tolerated it, and maybe even liked it by the end.

The Jacobson's drove over to spend a day with us after Emily and her crew had packed up to leave.  Mardi and I biked my favorite trail, and the Dave's and kids all hiked another trail on the other side of the valley.  Then we all ventured up the gondola for a little stroll up top.

After we packed up the following day we took another 4 wheel drive road (because one was not enough to get it out of Dave's system), up to a lake above Mountain village.  It was beautiful, and there was a nice hike around the lake, and snow fields to play on!
