Crested Butte and Lost Lake Campground

After spending a few days in the 100 degree heat of the desert, we turned back around a headed out on another camping adventure.  This time near Crested Butte at a campground called Lost Lake.  This place has such a beautiful setting surrounding it. as the Peaks were all above tree line and there were several mountain lakes and waterfalls you could hike to.

And the flowers, Oh My Word!  They were so big, and so much variety.  It has to be my new favorite place to see wild flowers.  I have never seen columbines so big!

It seemed like around every bend was another breathtaking view, and you would just want to linger a little longer.

The kids enjoyed floating around on the lake near our campground, and Maren even braved the very cold water to push the boys around in their tubes.

Of course a trip to Crested Butte would not be complete without a few mountain biking adventures mixed in.  The kids did a pretty good trail, and Dave and I also got out on longer rides.

More flowers of course!  The Lupine on lupine trail pretty much speaks for itself.

Post ride pizza at the Secret Stash is a must on our agenda, and the fig and truffle pizza is my favorite pizza of all time.  The town is pretty charming to walk around and window shop as well.

We were lucky enough to have a quick visit from Doug and his family between camping trips, but unfortunately I was lame and didn't take many pictures, expect this awesome one of me showing Dave that I successfully grilled with charcoal without him!  And another of Lyla and Skai, this was a big deal for her, as she was quite nervous with him the last time they had visited.  We did have a fun day at the lake though!

And why is Amanda not in any of those camping pictures you ask?  Because she was away at a three week music camp at Lamont in Denver.  She loved it and learned a lot.

We all traveled over to hear her final concert, and the evening prior spent a few hours perusing a local art festival.
