The fall fun around here is something I always look forward too. The boys are both strong enough to make their own leaf pile in the backyard now, and I loved watching them wait for enough leaves to fall so they could make a big pile.
And of course they insisted on going to the pumpkin patch.
Halloween this year was one of my favorites ever. All the kids had original fun ideas that I didn't buy from a costume store. Jacob was the cutest referee ever, we made his costume with black iron on interfacing on a white t shirt. Maren and her friend Morgan were the perfect m&m's, Spencer was a mad scientist (super easy with Dave's lab coat that he never uses anyway), and Amanda was Mrs Frizzle from the Magic School Bus. This so made me smile (minus the wild goose chase trying to find a dress that was similar to hers), as she LOVED that show as a kid. It was fun to see many of the kids know who she was, but most adults were puzzled.
I love my kids elementary tradition of the 1st and 2nd graders hosting a carnival for the kindergarteners (and themselves). The best part is it is all run by the kids. They come up with the games, create them, bring prizes from home, and run them the day of the carnival. They are always so proud of them and have the best time running their booth. It was a little sad to think this was my last year helping with this event. I will miss it. Jacob's game that he did with his friends Aidan and Kiel was a haunted hill. I love their rules...No chucking at people with the ball, lol!
Fall is the best because once the kids are in school again and the temperatures are a little cooler I get out on my bike more. Mardi and I did a ride down in Moab on the porcupine rim trail, the trail was great, and very challenging, and made me really want to ride the whole enchilada someday. But maybe I am crazy. I was amazed at how many bikers we passed on the way down with broken bikes, this trail gives a beating.
And finally the adventure that Dave and I have wanted to do for years, but didn't have the vehicle to get there. We spent a beautiful fall day exploring rattlesnake arches. It is so close to one of my favorite biking trails, but across the river, so unless you boat there (and climb a very steep trail) it is a 4 wheel drive road that takes about an hour to get to. So we put Dave's truck to good use and had a little adventure for the day. It was so fun! We loved finding all the big and little hidden arches. It was beautiful, and the perfect time of year to be there.
And the best part according the kids was riding home in the bed of the truck on the dirt road, they loved getting bounced around back there.
With the end of our beautiful fall we got to celebrate Dave's birthday with raspberry brownies! Love this man and his willingness to always adventure with me.
