Cowboys, Indians and a princess=)

Aren't they cute? Spencer was not a fan of his cowboy hat, and he won the battle, obviously, but it totally made the costume, so I had to get a picture. The cotume totally fit, as he still walks with quite a gait.

Maren was a cheerleader for the trunk 'r' treat at the church, but then come Halloween night was a "Key Princess". What is a key princess you ask? I still am asking the same question. A few months before we moved she came up with an imaginary friend called "Key Princess." When we were en route to LA she told us we were moving to "Key Princess's land" (Thus were we live now is a fairy tale, and we all take part in it.) She bought the tiara and skirt with her own money, because I told her I would only spend money on one costume for her and she had already picked out the cheerleader costume.

I thought Amanda was an awesome indian, I made her's and Spencer's costumes. Halloween is one time sewing really comes in handy, I can't beleive how much it can cost for a costume! Yes I am still cheap, but it makes sense, especially when they will only wear it once or twice!

She won at the donut with no hands as she took the whole thing in one bite. Then went on to bob for two apples, while I cringed at the germs she was exposed to=)

Maren on the other had had trouble keeping her hands behind her back, she couldn't not use them, it was so funny to watch her struggle as much with trying to pull them away from her "helper" as she was to get the donut in her mouth.

Saturday morning we enjoyed a beautiful hike around a new favorite lake near our place. The cypress leaves were turning, which is really something, all these needles in place of leaves turning color, not to mention the buttress trunks/roots, that look so surreal. See, I do like some things about the south...I will embellish more another time=)
We came home from our hike to find water bubbling up from under our driveway, it was more like gushing than bubbling. A water main had burst and they spent the day diggin a hole in the carport. The kids had a blast playing in the water, they even turned a small ravine into a waterslide for a while. Crazy, for November to think my kids were in swimming suits outside! We did have one injury as Amanda got to close to the firehydrant they had turned on to relieve pressure, the pavement wasn't too kind to her, but luckily nothing more than a few scrapes and bruises.

Hey, if you've got skills, use them! I am way jealous of your sewing skills. At least you passed some of your canning skills on to me, right? :)

I hope your water main is fixed and there isn't still a "Gordon River" in your front yard. Awesome that the kids turned lemons into lemonade and used it as a waterslide though.

Such cute kids, Natalie! It's always hardest to get the littlest ones to embrace Halloween, isn't it?

I always try to make it to 3 or 4 Halloween events to justify the costume expense! You are so right. The kids look fantastic. So fun!

The kids look so cute! That is so awesome that you can sew a costume. After adding up what I spent on costumes this year, I need to take up sewing. Jacob also has an imaginary friend named "Angry", but he's nice. He lives in a tree house in China. He was so excited to watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympics because he got to see Angry and his sister dance. I love a child's imagination.

Wow--I tried to read sections of your blog to Doug (yes, he is making bread while I am blogging) and couldn't read most of the time for laughter. I love your posts!
