San Antonio 2009

When Dave came home for R & R we asked the kids to help us plan a vacation that they could look forward to when he returned home for good. We decided, after some debate, to visit San Antonio and Sea World. It was kind of the grand finale of the deployment for me. The "we made it though and this is the reward". We stayed in a "suite" hotel with separate sleeping quarters for the kids, ate out almost every meal, visited a botanical garden, walked along the river walk, and relaxed in front of HG TV at night. Dave organized a day trip to hike this very cool rock, and we also were able to attend the temple together (thanks again Anna and Dell!) For the kids we visited the Zoo, Sea World, ate lunch at the Rain forest Cafe, visited a children's museum, and of course spent lots of time at the hotel pool. Jacob experienced his first swim, Amanda and Maren there first "real" roller coaster ride. (I think we cured them ever going on another in at least the next five years), and Spencer we learned is much easier to put down for a nap at home=)

It was a wonderful vacation!
