The Elders Quorum in our ward puts on a ward wide pinewood derby every New Years Eve. It is highly competitive, well attended, and an overall great activity. Last year our families car did fairly well, but nothing compared to the competition...(eh hum, O'Gwin's). So this year Dave and the kids took another approach. It was fun to hear everyone cheer on the Christmas train, and even more fun to watch the kids spend time with Dad making such a fun and memorable "car". It was out run in almost race, not to mention it was well over the weight limit. even after some serious drilling to the bottom. but we were glad to bring some entertainment.
I didn't manage to get a lot of Christmas shots, but here are a few of the boys...
And the bike...Spencer is always getting on the girls bikes wanting to sit on them, which is difficult as they no longer have training wheels. So Santa thought he was ready for his own. After a few rides down the street, in which he actually has pretty great control and peddling skills, he has decided to go back to his scoot bike. But as I am getting tired of replacing perfectly good shoes with holes in the toes, hopefully he will change his mind. Or I will end up buying a new tricycle (since I ran over his a few months back), that has got to be cheaper than shoes...right?
