Jacob is crawling, as of this weekend...
He has been getting so close over the last week, so it was cute to see him do it and not just flop on his belly over and over again. And today he even managed to pull himself to a stand on the bottom stair, I was in the kitchen and he was trying to follow Spencer going up the stairs. He is also very close to sitting on his own and loves to hang out on his side, and try to push himself into a sitting position. He is eating baby food twice a day now, which he is tolerating but not loving, and I introduced a sippy cup which he does loves, as long as it is not formula. The good news lately is he is starting to periodically sleep through the night...again. He did this around 2 or 3 months, and I was thrilled, but then settled into a routine of waking around 2 or 3 am for a feeding around 4 months...not thrilled. But I couldn't refuse him as his growth has never been great and I figured he needed the food. So here's to hoping it is every night soon!
Maren is really loving to help me with Jacob lately. She loves to take him for little walks around the living room and dance with him.
As you can see he loves it.
She has also been busy at home lately writing her own stories, making pretend boats in the backyard, and turning off all the lights in the house to play "nightime games".As for Amanda she is really starting to pick up quickly on her recorder and guitar (she is taking lessons simultaneously), this weekend she played in a neighborhood talent show and did a fantastic job. Amanda also has our quote of the month...we were driving to the library and as she was looking out the window she says "mom, just look at all those trees going to waste".
I think to myself "did we pass a logging truck or something (they are all over around here)?", but say instead "why do you say that".
Amanda replies "Because nobody's climbing them."
So there you have it, a nine year old version of wasted trees.
And last but not least my own laugh of the week. I opened the door to sign for a package this week (I usually get a few as I do a lot of online shopping here, due to the lack of stores in the area). And the UPS lady asked me where my baby was. I had to chuckle that the UPS lady knew me well enough to know I had a baby in my arms usually. Maybe next time I will leave her a plate of cookies=)

How cool is that, his growth! Wow. And sort of sad. We have yet to meet him. Well, we will have to wait a month or so more then.
Miss you all!
Okay, if you get to know the UPS lady well enough that you start exchaning Christmas cards, that's it. That so made me laugh. :)
Also, I think Aly would totally agree with the wasted tree comment. She was just talking about Amanda yesterday and asking me why you guys can't just move with us everywhere we go when you get out of the military? Sounds like a plan to me!
