The things they say...

Last weekend we ate dinner with some friends. The mom runs a part time daycare in her home during the week so the kids were pleasantly surprised that there were tons of toys at their house, (even though their youngest son is a teenager). Maren especially loved their toys and on the way home couldn't stop talking about their house. "Mom their house was delightful, the bathroom was so gorgeous." (Dave tells me the bathroom was super small, but had a castle looking fiurine that she loved.) Apparently kindergarten has taught her some vocabulary.
And while we were there Amanda was telling about our spring break vacation with Dave's family, she was trying to explain that Dave's mom is really a step mom, but didn't know that term. So instead called her a "substitute mom". We were all laughing. And Patty, by the way, you are definitely permanent in our eyes;) Because of her voracious reading, Amanda has quite a large vocabulary and lately we have seen some funny things come of it. She will often mispronounce words that she has read...such as peesants (peasants).

And I couldn't help posting this picture of her with her school project, she did a report on the liberty bell, and made this diarama. I loved her creativity, and loved that she got to do something besides worksheets for once!
Spencer when coming home from errands one day this week, took one look at our house and said " I want a new house" and proceeded to ask me for a hammer. I humored him and found a play one, which he started hammering away at the concrete siding with. Interestingly enough he will get his wish soon enough as the housing here on post will be moving us to a renovated home in the coming month. It will be nice to have a bit more space and I am looking forward to an update of the 1973 kitchen cabinetry.
And Jacob's quote consists of bababababababa....
a short video of Jacob's walking (for the grandma's of course;)
