Nature in the south

Spring showers don't just bring flowers in this neck of the woods...
We get to see all kinds of other treats as well...Wild guinea hens (kids call them turkeys) eating the birdseed outside our neighbors gate

A poor tree frog the kids took hostage for a few days...

It was fun to watch it jump around and around Amanda...

It was really cool to watch as it changed colors with it's environment. The kids were so excited to see that it had turned brown like the leaf it was sitting on after we had been away for an hour. (At least they were excited after they could find it. At first they thought it had escaped!)
There was also a lizard and a millipede a few potato bugs (rollypolly's) and the million bees that have taken over the camellia bush in our front yard.

For our contribution to nature we grew butterfly's!
The kids LOVED watching the caterpillars grow and then each transform into a chrysalis and finally emerge as a painted lady butterfly. Spencer and I happened to be in the room when one of them was emerging and it was amazing to see mother nature in action!
(I really wish I had pictures of this to post. They are stuck on Dave's phone, and if I can ever figure out how to get them off, I will post them!)
