Sun Valley Reunion

Back when  Dave and I were first married we did a trip to Sun Valley to camp and mountain bike with his siblings who were also newly married.  It is one of my favorite memories, and the place I fell in love with mountain biking.  So when we were put in charge of this years reunion, we ran with the Sun Valley idea, and it ended up being a great place for all.
Of course we took advantage of our cabin being close to the trails, and spent most mornings, rising early to get a ride in.  It was the best.

We enjoyed a fun hike up to a mountain lake for our first family activity.

The kids were great hikers. It helps to have cousins to spur you on.

Dave is pretty much the Everett sherpa.  They make a great pair.

Monkshood!

And of course Miranda and I had to jump in the lake.  I may have regretted not planning ahead and wearing my suit, or at least a sports bra.  It was a wet hike down.

Back at the cabin we played lots of yard games, ate yummy food, had evening campfires, and tried our best to keep the kids from wasting their cousin time in front of the TV or phones.  I think we mostly succeeded.
And we all got turns holding baby Annie.  She is the cutest little thing, and baby snuggles are te best.

We did an afternoon bike ride to the botanical gardens, and spent a few hours walking around them.

Little Elise stopped to smell the flowers.

We enjoyed a bluegrass concert in downtown Sun Valley.  This was a nice break, as we ordered pizza and chilled on the lawn, with most of the kids playing pickup games of soccer or frisbee nearby.

The last full day together we spent at a lake up in the mountains.  This was the favorite day of most everyone.  We packed up burgers and dogs. and had a picnic while we floated and swam in the lake.

It was so picturesque, and we pretty much had the place to ourselves.  Well that was after everyone left, once our big crew arrived.  Oops!

That evening we finished up with a fun game of kickball at the neighborhood park near our cabin.  It was the perfect way to end our trip, and everyone had a blast.  Even some of the other kids that were staying nearby joined in.

After cleaning up the cabin  few of us met downtown for ice cream and a little shopping.

It was a successful reunion, and one I hope we can repeat in a few years time.
