Bryce Canyon

I don't think there is quite a place as beautiful as Bryve Canyon.  Every time we go there, it just takes my breath away.

We met up with the Aumen's and Marchants for a fun get away in Bryce.  Thanks to Doug for organizing.  Our base camp was at Ruby's Inn, where we had a campsite that fit all of us together, and  had lots of room to spread out. We hiked, biked, swam, and hiked some more.

At the campground we had fun practicing bike skills with all the kids, including helping Lyla learn to ride without training wheels!  A few of the adults got away for a fun ride down through a section of canyon neighboring Bryce that was spectacular in the fading daylight.

I got to take Heather on her first "mountain bike" ride and it was fun to show her what her new bike was capable of.  She is a natural!

This was going to be a great picture!  Teenagers!

We had a few birthdays to celebrate on the trip and did so in style with dutch oven cake and ice cream from the campground store.  While baking the cakes, there was a bit of a mishap, when Lyla fell into the fire pit and gave herself a pretty bad burn on her hand.  She was pretty uncomfortable that night but they decided to stick out the last night camping since it was already pretty late, and hard to pack up in the dark.  She was a trooper, and got to see a burn specialist upon getting back home to get some tips to help it heal well.

The last day the Aumen's and us Gordon's did a short hike up through the lower sction of Bryce to Mossy Cave.  The water was a refreshing, and felt good after the hot week.  We decided to hike down through the river and it was so fun to try and find our way through.
