Quarantine Perks

One of the perks of quarantine was definately time.  Time to do things that are normally overlooked through the busy spring time of year.
May the 4th, is definately one of thise overlooked "holidays" in our house.  The kids have been watching cupcake wars recently, another perk, to having more time.  And the result was this conconction.  I should say, one of many baked goods that we enjoyed over this break from normal life.

Another major perk was the rest that Dave was able to get.  Work slowed down, as we didn't have a lot of COVID in our area initally, and no one wanted to go the doctor, just in case.  When he was at work, he wasn't on his feet as much, and this helped his hip heal, alot.  We knew a lot of his pain was from swelling and some tears in his surrounding muscles fromt he surgery, so this rest was just what he needed.  He was able to begin a few low key bike rides come May, and it was so great to be able to ride with my favorite riding partner again.

Of course Jacob had to come along, and practice his jumps.  He's getting pretty good at maintaining that front tire lift.  I'm jealous, he is passing me up.

Grand Junction opened their new bike park down by the river front.  This was fun to go explore.  It has some fun features, and will definately be a place we enjoy.

And look a this ladies ride...so many of us were able to get out together.  Not normally a reality in our busy lives, but it was so fun.

School finally got out.  Jacob's teacher stopped by with a gift and Jacob was so happy to see her.  I really liked Mrs Trujillo.  She was so great at keeping him engaged with challenging content both while in school duuring online learning.  She also kept a really great schedule that kept the kids engaged online, which is no small feat for 4th graders and in such short notice as everyone had of life shitting down.

Drive by visits became the norm around here.  The kids loved seeing anybody, besides those of us living at home.  Even if it was just from the car.  The elementary school did a drive by parade to visit the kids, which was so fun.

To celebrate the end of the school year, we booked a last minute campsite and raft to take an overnight trip down the Colorado river.  It was such a fun trip, and a great little getaway that was quarantine friendly.

The first day was really windy, which was challenging to steer the raft in,  but we figured it out and enjoyed the scenery of ruby horsethief canyon.

We had the most beautiful site at Mee corner all to ourselves.  We explored the area, once we unpacked the raft and set up camp,  and had a great nights rest.

The last day we paddled through lava rocks, and did a little cliff jumping.  It was not terrible warm outside, and the water is freezing this time of year.  But the kids still braved it, and had fun doing it.

Summer has arrived!
