Keeping the kids busy in the heat has been challenging. But we seem to find things to keep us busy. Story time here has been fun, they bring in a different story teller every week, and they are really good. This week both Amanda and Maren got chosen to participate.
They loved it!
Amanda has been busy reading every book in the library. She is trying to get through the entire Nancy Drew series this summer, and she just might at the rate she is headed. She even was reading while watching the fireworks last night...with a glow stick. She still spends a lot of time out side with friends playing and looking after the baby birds that made a nest in our bike trailer that hangs in the carport area. She and Maren built an animal hospital in their room last week, using every stuffed animal in the house. Thus the major clean up (apparently fish food all over the carpet makes for good animal feed).
Maren lost her fist tooth!
She was so excited for the tooth fairy to visit, she could hardly go to sleep. First thing the next morning she burst into my room "her came, her came" and has told me that now she is "big girl."
Spencer has become more and more attached to any male that will give him any attention lately. At the pool last week, a guy in uniform came to visit his family. Spencer immediately thought it was his dad and went to show him latest boo-boo. The guy was really nice about it and gave him some attention, but after a while I finally took Spencer to the other side of the pool, but he wouldn't take his eyes off of the guy. And when they left he was in tears. So confusing for the little guy. He still loves to see Dave on web cam and to listen to his "daddy stories" that Dave recorded before leaving.
We said farewell to aunt Suzy, thanks again for the support and company.
Dave's sister Emily arrived last night with her 2 year old Lily in time to join us for the fireworks. She is here for ten days, so hopefully this baby will make it's debut here soon. I have been having lots of contractions but nothing that sticks around for more than three or four hours. But at the last check up I am dilated to a three and 50% effaced, so any time now...until I have to clean the house again=)

Yes you are really getting ready to have this kid. The nesting thing never fails. I hope everything goes well with delivery and you and that sweet baby are safe.
Oh no, poor Spencer. I can relate to that one.
I have been wondering if you had your baby yet. I hope everything goes well. Best wishes.
Can't wait to meet the new Gordon soon.
You made it through the 4th! Congratulations. Doug can't wait to come say hello.
It's too late to call you, so I thought I'd check to see if you blogged about a possible induction . . .
Good for you for keeping Amanda, Maren and Spencer busy and for recording their doings! Plus cleaning . . . you are awesome.
It was a pleasure to meet Aunt Suzy. And Ruthie was really excited to tell me that now she has *two* Sunbeam teachers.
I'll talk to you soon . . .
Nesting...you've gotta love it! You'll be prepared, for sure. It's so wonderful that you guys have family coming and staying for when baby arrives. Can't wait for that announcement to come soon that baby has made his way....and pictures!
Good luck Nat. You guys are in our thoughts and prayers! We can't to see this little guy!
