A mini getaway

Dave had a conference in Colorado Springs and invited me to go along.  It was awesome to get away, and my wonderful mom came to visit and watch the kiddo's so it could be a childless getaway...even better!  The first few days were great, we went out to eat, did a fabulous hike on the drive in, and played a tennis match during his munch break on the first day.  The only bummer part was that Dave was in conferences most of the time, and then he fell ill.  He caught the stomach bug that had gone through the rest of the family the week before.  I have never seen him this sick, it was scary for him, and me.  But there is only so much you can do for someone who is not feeling well, and he basically kicked me out so I could enjoy myself.  I did a little shopping, relaxing, reading, eating of good food I didn't prepare, and of course hiking.  Nice wife, I know!    It was fun to get some serious miles in without kids and I saw some spectacular scenery.  The granite cliffs around this area are very steep and there are tons of great waterfalls cascading down them.

The only bummer part was that I didn't manage to get any pictures with the kids with Grandma, and they had a great time.  When we came home they were all in the backyard playing in the water and didn't care that we had come in the door.  Even Jacob.  Seriously, I thought I might just turn around and leave again, it was fabulous.  My mom taught the boys to play hide and go seek, and they have been playing it ever since...all the time.  And I swear Jacob was talking way better after the weekend with her.  Grandma's are magic in my book.
